Our day courses & workshops take place throughout the year with something to offer everyone. Our workshops are special graded to suit different levels, so everyone works at a level that suits them. Below are some examples of courses running in 2012.

JUST ANNOUNCED - VERY LIMITED PLACES - Adult Guitar Classes - 6 week course - Beginners
Starting Thursday the 2nd of June at 7.30pm then every Thursday night thereafter.

Ever fancied picking up the guitar? Well, Morningside School of Music have put together a 6 week course that is aimed at beginner adults that have never played before.
The course will be taught by a fully qualified expert and will take place at the school starting at 7.30pm on Thursday the 2nd of June. Styles will range from rock to blues, popular to classical. The emphasis is on having fun!
There is always a great, friendly vibe at the courses. Music School manager, David Jeans, said 'We have people from all walks of life attend the courses. we seem to have a high number of lawyers and accountants in attendance. The classes have been running for over ten years and they always sell out fairly quickly.'
Their are 15 places available and bookings can be made by calling 0131 447 1117. The cost of the course is £60.

JUST ANNOUNCED - VERY LIMITED PLACES - Music Theory, Sight Reading & Compostion - 6 week course - Beginners
Starting Sunday the 12th of June at 1pm then every Sunday thereafter.

This course will help you understand non-practical elements of music. Highly recommended for instrumentalist who could do with picking up theory, sight reading or composition. We promise to make learning these topics fun, easy and enjoyable. Taking part in this course will greatly help you develop as a musician.

JUST ANNOUNCED - VERY LIMITED PLACES - Summer Rock Academy - 5 day course - Age 8 to 14
Starting Monday the 4th till Friday the 8th of July, 10am till 2pm.

This course is designed for kids and young teenagers who are interested in working in a band, lerning how to write songs, master working in the studio and finally making their own demo.
The classes have been running for over ten years and they always sell out fairly quickly.'

Reading Sheet Music - 3 hour course - Beginners - Children & Adults

Finding it hard to get started with notation? Maybe you have already started reading sheet music, but you just feel you’re not moving quite as fast as you would like to? Well, this is the course for you. Suitable for all musicians, we take you on a step by step approach to learning the art of reading, writing and understanding basic sheet music.

Popular Music Composition – 3 hour course - Intermediate - 12+

Ever wanted to sit down and write your own songs? Do you play in a band and want to make a better contribution? Our teachers have worked alongside some of the biggest names in the music industry, not to mention working as the background guys, such as the songwriters, producers, management and record companies. We offer an insider’s approach to song-writing and how the industry music moguls compose for artists around the world. A sell out course time and time again. Definitely not to be missed. Special guest appearances from well know artists.

Music Marketing & PR - 3 hour course - All Levels - 14+

Many artists have either a great band or great songs but just don’t know the next step. Hiring a PR firm can costs thousands per month and ruin your finances before you before you even get started. This course is perfect for anyone who is interested in moving forward and getting out there without breaking the bank. Our expert staff take you through the best ways to promote what you’re doing and how to get your message out to the masses. Online, Press, Radio, TV and Gigging, all covered in this great way to self-promotion within the industry. Special guest appearances from top industry managers and record label bosses.

Guitar Basics - 3 hour course - Beginners - All Ages

One of our most popular courses this year! Picking up the guitar couldn’t be easier with our fast track approach. Learning everything from how to hold the guitar to playing your first chord, reading sheet music to proper finger technique. This is a great way to get yourself started on your journey to being a successful musician.

Music Theory (Chords) – 2 hour course - Intermediate - 14+

This course is specially designed to help pianists & guitarists have a better understanding of how chords work and their relationship with scales and keys. This fast track approach will see you leaving with clear, understandable knowledge of how to play over 120 chords. Massive demand leaves us running this course several times a month.
