“As a music degree graduate myself, I can really appreciate the methodology they promote when teaching. Every time I have been in visiting, the kids and adults are so full of energy regarding learning music and that is what it is all about. I would strongly recommend Morningside School of Music to all ages, especially those interested in taking a step into the music industry, I’m sure they will help create many stars of the future. I love popping in, the staff and the facilities are amazing!” |
Ronnie Gurr
Former creative director of V2, Virgin Records and Sony Music Corporation |
| "...Morningside School of Music offers fantastic opportunities for young people who want to get involved in the music industry but they also help more experienced players who are looking for the next step. The teachers are of extremely high caliber and are well trained in what they do and this is what makes the music school a great place to better your musical journey. I have always been impressed with the fact that they concentrate so hard on the teaching of popular music as well as classical music, the facilities are great and in an ideal location..." |

Dr Murray Cole
Director of studies at Edinburgh University |
| "...I have been delighted with my son's progress on the bass guitar since starting lessons at the Morningside School of Music. Their atmosphere is relaxed and lessons strike a good balance between following the book and exploring other music the pupils just want to learn. The School's approach to encouraging kids to form bands and generally get involved in music making is also very appealing..." |

Alison Walker
|
| Alison Walker and her sons Ben (8) and Lewis (5) have been coming to the music school for just under a year now. Ben, who studies drums and Lewis, a beginner pianist, are taking one step at a time and making steady progress. “The boys love playing, I never thought they would have so much fun at their lessons...” . A keen jazz fan, Alison decided that she too would like to partake in lessons during the day while her 2 boys were at school. “I just wanted to give it a bash to give myself something to do. I’m learning so much and I have been told by my friends that my singing has improved so much, it’s been a real confidence builder!” |

Charlie MacAuley
Tax Advisor |
| Charlie McAuley (29), a tax advisor, was finding that after giving the violin up at school when he was little, he wanted to take it back up again. “When I was at primary school, our violin teacher was really strict and I really didn’t enjoy my lessons, that’s why I gave them up...”. While passing our Morningside store on his way to work one morning, Charlie decided that a quick lesson would soon see if Morningside School of Music's approach was any different. “I had visions of turning up and there being a grumpy old lady, I was surprised to find that it was a young, friendly and relaxed teacher with an understanding of what I wanted to achieve, she didn’t force me to learn a series of boring books...” . Charlie has been at the music school now for 2 years and has since started playing with a local string quartet. |

Madeline and Peter Northridge |
| Madeline and Peter Northridge, both civil servants, admitted that after 12 years married together, they were determined to out-do each other to see who could learn guitar first. “I bought Peter a guitar last year for Christmas and I’ve been trying to play it just as much as he has... a friend of ours has lessons with Morningside School of Music and she recommended that we try it out”. 4 months on and their guitar practice has become part of life “Madeline has the competitive edge over me, she finishes work an hour before I do, I come home and she’ll be sitting there with the guitar practicing just so she can beat me...” Jokes Peter. |

Kirsten Alexander |
| Kirsten Alexander (15), High school student and full time rock music fan, decided that when she leaves school, a career in the music industry was a road she wanted to go down. “I need to go to university to get a degree in music first and you need to be able to play to a reputable standard, so my mum organised a gift voucher of lessons for my 15th birthday”. Morningisde School of Music not only mentored Kirsten through her guitar studies but also gave her the knowledge she required to improve her chances for getting into the university of her choice. “My guitar teacher did his degree in music at the same place I want to go, he talked me through what I have to do for my audition and what I need to prepare, he even spoke to one of the lecturers at the university on the phone and organised for my mum & dad and I to go up and be shown about, the studios are so cool...” Kirsten has got 2 years left at school before making her big application in which her guitar teacher is sure will be a breeze for Kirsten. |
